Disney has announced a seasonal transformation for the recently reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The attraction will feature a limited-time experience titled "Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Obligatory Holiday Overlay," incorporating new music, characters, and technical effects.
What's new
The holiday overlay introduces a specific storyline involving The Electric Mayhem preparing for a festive concert. The update includes several new elements:
* New Audio-Animatronic: The attraction will debut the first-ever Audio-Animatronic figure of Scooter. Imagineers used motion-capture technology of the actual Muppet to ensure the figure’s movements and expressions are authentic.
* Pre-show and Queue Updates: The courtyard will play festive music, and the pre-show inside G-Force Records will feature Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, and Lips. The story follows Scooter and a team of penguin audio engineers as they try to keep the band on schedule.
* Holiday Soundtrack: The ride vehicles, now referred to as the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object (L.I.M.O.), will feature a new set list of four songs:
* "Holiday Road" (The Electric Mayhem featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear)
* "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" (The Electric Mayhem featuring Jennifer Hudson)
* "Silver Bells" (The Electric Mayhem featuring Cyndi Lauper)
* "Little Saint Nick" (The Electric Mayhem)
When and where
The holiday overlay is located at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in the Sunset Boulevard area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. The experience runs for a limited window, beginning November 4 and concluding on January 6.
What it means for your visit
If you are visiting during the holiday season, expect higher-than-average wait times for this attraction. Because this is a "limited-time experience" with a specific end date, it will likely draw both regular tourists and local annual passholders wanting to see the new Scooter animatronic and hear the exclusive tracks.
To manage your time, consider the following:
* Early Arrival: Head to Sunset Boulevard immediately at park opening to ride before lines peak in the afternoon.
* Lightning Lane: If you are using a skip-the-line service, this attraction should be a high priority for your selections.
* Atmosphere: Even if you do not plan to ride, the holiday music in the courtyard provides a themed experience in that corner of the park.
